This Ad Will Rev You Up!

For those of you who live in a cave, Audi is a German auto manufacturer which is a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group, another German automaker. Audi focuses mainly on performance and driver experience. “When you’re driving an R8 you can almost convince yourself that you are doing a public service.” claims , Automotive Editor for Digital Trends. I admit, I have to agree with Nick. I personally feel a sense of gratitude and empowerment coupled with adrenaline pumping through my body.

With a small footprint on YouTube, the video has had a mere 2043 hits since it was posted March 3, 2013. Being an official commercial, viewers tend to search for and watch videos submitted by users which illustrates the draw to the brand. The commercial can be found on other sites like Vimeo.com with 553 video plays, liveleak.com with 483 plays, and various auto websites.

“A lawyer opened the door of his Audi, when suddenly a car came along and hit the door, ripping it off completely. When the police arrived at the scene, the lawyer was complaining bitterly about the damage to his precious Audi. “Officer, look what they’ve done to my Audiiiii!!!”, he whining said. “You lawyers are so materialistic, you make me sick!!!” retorted the officer, “You’re so worried about your stupid Audi, that you didn’t even notice that your left arm was ripped off!!!” “Oh my god….”, replied the lawyer, finally noticing the bloody left shoulder where his arm once was, “Where’s my Rolex?” As with other luxury auto brands, poking fun at the stereotypes of Audi owners is a common occurrence. Overall, the effectiveness of the ad is subjective. Even though it reached a small audience in terms of numbers, the people viewing it may be the exact target market that turn into buyers. The message was simplistic and using no words, the car spoke for itself. In my case, I simply enjoyed the superb exhibition of its power.

I ask you this: if money were no object, which car would you purchase? If you decided upon the Audi R8 showcased in the video, be prepared to write a six figure check to the tune of $179,645 because that’s what the base model featured in the video will run you. Obviously Audis target market aimed at rich people….. who like to drive. You can save yourself the payment and win this much sought after driving experience by submitting your own R8 love letter to wantanr8.

Take a look at the Audi choices of some popular celebrities:

Move....you can't see the car.

Real Madrid football sensation, or as we Americans say, soccer, Cristiano Ronaldo opted for a new Audi RS6 Avant while his poor teammates drove around in the Audi Q7. It must be rough having Audi as your team sponsor. I’ll say a little prayer for the team tonight…. (Photo: Zero2Turbo)

Soccer players sure seem to have a thing for Audis!  I was almost blinded by his handsomeness and forgot that I was supposed to make note of the car. Sharing the field with teammate of aforementioned Cristiano Ronaldo, midfielder Gareth Bale has A LOT of money –as in, over $100 million which is more than I could burn in a Minnesota winter. Pictured above in his Q7, he has been seen cruising around in his Audi R8 as well. (Photo: Zimbio)

In case you can’t quite afford your dream Audi yet, you can always get that experience by slapping the Audi logo on your current car as seen below on a that I came across in St. Louis Park, MN this fall.

Um...no.
Um…no.

In the meantime, I’ll settle for my modest 340hp, manual Audi S4. Happy Driving 🙂

  1. I am not an expert on cars but I have heard of the name at least. Audi seems like a reliable brand and after watching the ad, I was really interested in the car. I liked how they showed what it looks like on the inside and the sounds that it made. I also really enjoyed reading your post about the car and how it relates to you because you have a (similar?) car to the one in the commercial. I liked how you tied it in with your personal life.
